Southview Baptist Church near Fox Mill Shopping Center in Reston, VA, collects used luggage to donate to foster children in DC. A little known fact, but worth knowing. Since space if always sparse, call them first to see if they can take your used luggage.

Here's a list of shelters in Virginia. If you find any other organizations that need used luggage, please let me know so I can add them to this list. And here's a link to the 1999 on-line edition of "Emergency Food and Shelter Directory," put together by The Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington. it provides information on shelters, food kitchens, and other sources of help for needy people throughout the Washington-Metropolitan area. It's a wealth of information.
