ONE GIRL'S "TRASH" IS ANOTHER GIRL'S "TREASURE"

Here are some links that have too many needs for me to list separately:

Jericho Road, Inc. lists a multitude of places around the country & their needs. Just click on your state & it'll take you to organizations in your community who would welcome a donation of items from you.

Want to learn what things can be recycled, where the garbage goes, and play games? Click here to visit Recycle City.

Here's a Recycling bulletin board. Crafters share ideas for turning old household items into all sorts of wonderful things! (old cd's, egg cartons, kool-aid scoops, bottle tops....even dead batteries & lint!). It's so much fun to read. There's an archive of old messages to plow through, too. You just have to check this out - it's great! And what a wonderful resource for inexpensive craft projects for your Girl Scouts....

Another site on how to recycle household items. Click here.

Fast Company's list of organizations who could use your used items (even old bicycles!). Click here.

Reusing items in the classroom. Click here for arts & crafts ideas for children. And what can you do with a Pringles can? Check here.

Kids! Make your own recycled paper! And try some recycled material crafts at
Planet Pals.

Kids Domain Earth Day activities - crafts, info., puzzles, etc. Check it out! And don't forget to follow their links to other great sites.

Marlie's Creative Universe. Look here! And while you're at it, look here, too, for some recycling crafts. MakeStuff.com has some good ideas for recycling a multitude of household items, too.

Here's a new business that hopes to help companies sort through their old equipment and then donate it to
non-profit organizations. The company absorbs the cost of the service. Read all about it by following this link: Corporate to Community. If you know of a company that qualifies as a recipient, let them know about Corporate to Community.

Look here for organizations throughout Pittsburgh, PA, that are seeking various items to support their work. I wish I could find a resource like this for Northern Virginia! The closest I've come so far is in the reference desk at the Reston Public Library - ....And the Kitchen Sink: A Citizen's Guide to Donating Almost Everything (Eagle Scout Service Project for Jeffrey Firestone, 1994-1995), Ref 361F. The document implies there's a database of this information being maintained by the Vounteer Center of Fairfax, but I have yet to confirm that and I haven't found any reference to it on their homepage.

Wishlists for non-profit organizations in Dallas, TX.

Akron Ohio Wish Lists for Teachers!

Another school wishlist.

Non-profit Montessori Phoenix Project has a huge list of needed items. Check it out.

Here's an interesting site full of ways to be kind to others. It's called "A Weekly Dose of Kindness."
