Puzzle Piece Pins: Have each girl decorate a puzzle piece (already painted white) with googly eyes, feathers, sequins, etc., and then attach a pin to the back.

Girl Scout Friendship Necklace

Materials:
approx. 80" embroidery floss in each of five colors - red, blue, orange, purple, yellow
(divide each 8.7' skein into fourths - a skein of each color will make four necklaces)
3 green pony beads for each necklace Directions:
Take five lengths of floss and lay them together --

Red for the World of Well-Being (Like the cross on a first aid kit, or your cheeks when you exercise)
Blue for the World of People (like the sky that's over all the people in the world)
Orange for the World of Today and Tomorrow (like the space shuttle being launched)
Purple for the World of the Arts (like a blob of purple paint)
Yellow for the World of the Out-of-Doors (like the sun shining on our outdoor activities)

Find a friend to hold one end of your rope. Each of you
twist your end to your right until tightly twisted (as tight as you want your friendship to be). Rub your fingers down your string as you walk toward your friend (to smooth out any differences you may have) and stop with your fingers holding the middle. Hand your end to your friend, who ties both ends in an overhand knot (sealing your friendship) and hands it back to you. Shake your rope (shaking out any problems in your friendship). Now do it again to make your friend's rope, and sing "Make New Friends" together! Thread three green beads (for the three parts of the Girl Scout Promise) on your rope, saying the Promise as you do:
"On my honor, I will try:
1. To serve God and my country,
2. To help people at all times,
3. And to live by the Girl Scout Law." Center the beads, and tie five overhand knots on either side of them for the ten parts of the Girl Scout Law, saying them as you tie:
"I will do my best to be
1. honest and fair,
2. friendly and helpful,
3. considerate and caring,
4. courageous and strong, and
5. responsible for what I say and do
and to
6. respect myself and others,
7. respect authority,
8. use resources wisely,
9. make the world a better place
10. and be a sister to every Girl Scout."

Finish by tying the ends together in a strong square knot: right over left, left over right, pull tight (as
strong as your Girl Scout friendships) and trim loose threads. Wear and remember the friend who helped you!

Here's a project that Sally O., another Scout Leader, sent me:
My project for nut bowl consist of old 78 records. Sometimes people don't wish to part with any of them. Salvation Army, Goodwill Industries may have some cheap. It takes oven mits and the oven set at 250-275 for approx. 3-5 min. You'll have to play around and see what your oven does. Place record on cookie sheet (1) at a time and have the kitchen properly ventilated (a Must do). Have each little girl or mom have a bowl-something as a mold turned upside down on the counter and as you remove the record from the oven with TONGS place immediately on top of the bowl. Usually a family serving bowl for potatoes (size) will be just right. The hot soft and I do mean soft record will form around the bowl like a fluted bowl. Pretty but not done yet. It takes about 5-10 min for the bowls to cool-remove and spray paint with silver or gold or color of your choice. By the way we used cheap glass pyrex bowls-worked real well. You can use rub on's and seal everything and then fill with nuts, candy or ornaments and you can also put a candle in the middle and fill around. Like I said "the records will never be the same again".

Another project is can lids removed from the top of food cans with the new can openers that curl under the edges. Draw a design of your choice or trace one from a coloring book-whatever then make dots from one end to the other. Maybe a cute little tree and then punch holes in the dots and punch a hole in the top of the lid, put a ribbon through and hang on the tree. Darling ornaments for the senior citzens home.
